With Tackle Prostate Cancer being the UK’s only federation of peer support groups for prostate cancer, we’re proud to be connected with hundreds of inspiring people, who either live with or have been impacted by prostate cancer.
1 in 8 men will get prostate cancer. If you’re over 50, or you’re black, or your dad or brother had it, you’re at even higher risk. We therefore have a lot of work to do to lower the stats while encouraging people to seek support to help them through their journey.
Have you ever heard of the phrase ‘a problem shared is a problem halved?’ and have you ever felt that it works? Well, that’s exactly what peer support and our support groups aim to do; they essentially provide a space or a place that people can access in order to talk about what’s on their mind to help them half their problem, or often, problems.
Our ‘Let’s Talk About It’ campaign, looks to amplify the stories of people who are affected or live with prostate cancer, while raising the awareness of the value of peer support. We’re wanting to debunk the myths that ‘peer support’ is scary and uninviting, and showcase the amazing benefits of it, as well as showcasing the variety of support that is out there – whether that be a walking group, a sporting social or just a brew.
Let’s Talk About It, hopes to encourage people to reach out to their local support group and help someone through their prostate cancer journey.
