Funding Success!

We’ve got some very exciting news to share with you…we have been successful in receiving funds from The National Lottery Community Fund! We are so grateful to be recipients of this investment, and are looking forward to implementing our plans to ensure people living with or affected by prostate cancer have the support they need.

What will we do with the investment?

We will be recruiting two Regional Peer Support Co-ordinators, who will support and develop existing groups, whilst helping to create new ones, as well as building relations with local stakeholders. The co-ordinators will be based in more targeted areas, to ensure that peer support is accessible and inclusive to all communities who are diagnosed or affected by prostate cancer.

We will also be using the investment to fund a National Programme Director, to oversee the work, test our new peer coaching model, whilst ensuring that the voices of people living with prostate cancer are heard both in the media and crucially, with health care professionals.

How will this investment impact the work that Tackle does?

We want to ensure that as many men newly diagnosed and/or living with prostate cancer can access the information and support they need at what is often a difficult and emotional time. This specific investment aims to continue the support Tackle offers, whilst enabling the organisation to establish new groups and expand the support available in areas which are currently underserved.

Joining the group made me aware that there were so many others who were in a similar situation. Being able to talk openly about my symptoms and listen to fellow sufferers helped me to come to terms with my diagnosis and take a more positive approach to the future.” – Peter, Huddersfield Prostate Cancer Support Group.

Has Tackle received funding from The National Lottery Community Fund before?

Yes, we have been lucky enough to have had investment since 2020. Since then, Tackle has grown from supporting 80 groups to 121, regularly reaching over 10,000 men and their partners/families both in person and online. This investment will help us grow our community even more.

Who do I get in touch with if I want to set up a prostate cancer support group in my local area?

We’re so pleased that you’re looking to set up a prostate cancer peer support group, for more information please email Mark, our National Peer Support Co-ordinator [email protected].

Aside from running a support group, how else can I support Tackle?

If you know anyone who has been diagnosed with prostate cancer, or perhaps is living with someone who has prostate cancer and you feel they need some support. Please share Tackle’s information with them. We have over 120 support groups across the UK, who are run by people who are either living with or have been affected by prostate cancer, for people who are impacted by the disease.
