From a handful of men talking in a pub about their prostate cancer diagnosis, to a national charity. Tackle has always stood for one thing: men, trans-women and families facing prostate cancer should never face it alone.
Our History
Tackle Prostate Cancer (The National Federation of Prostate Cancer Support Group) became a charity in 2008, however the history of our federation started with our pioneering support groups in the mid-1990s.
1995
Angus Earnshaw, newly diagnosed, set up one of the UK’s first support groups.
1996
Two men in a Manchester pub turned shared experience into a peer-support group.
1998
Interest snowballed. 80 people filled a support group meeting at Christie’s Hospital, Manchester.
1999
Local groups joined forces under the Prostate Cancer Support Association.
2001
Plans were laid for a national federation of support groups.
2008
