tackle 5k: Tony’s Way

Our Vice-Chair, Tony Collier, is embarking on his very own challenge and raising money for Tackle while he’s at it!

Tackle 5k: Tony’s Way is a 10-week training plan that culminates in him running 5K. This challenge comes after Tony’s knee replacement in May 2024, which stopped him from being able to do his most loved thing, running. After months of rehabilitation and rest, he has developed a 10-week training programme that aims to encourage others who are impacted by prostate cancer, or any other long-term illness or injury to join him in moving their body and reaching the end 5k goal. He will be running the 5k, at Wilmslow Park, as part of the 5k Your Way initiative, which encourages people who are impacted by cancer to run, walk, jog or cheer at their local 5k park run route.

As Tony trains for this challenge, he hopes to raise £5,000 for Tackle to help set up two new prostate cancer support groups in areas of the UK that need it most. Living with prostate cancer himself and being a trustee of Tackle, Tony understands first hand how important peer support is to those who are living with or affected by prostate cancer.
