Welcome to Our February Monthly Briefing Hello to all our dedicated Support Group Leaders and Organisers, Looking out at the grey sky, it seems hard to believe that Spring will soon be here Almost half way through February and a Spring approaches, we’re excited to remind you of an important date in our calendar: our Annual Conference, taking place in Birmingham on April 1st. This is more than just an event—it’s a vital opportunity to come together, share knowledge, and drive forward our mission in tackling prostate cancer. Why This Conference is Important: Reflect : We’ll review the significant progress we’ve made over the past year and discuss strategic initiatives for the future. Your experiences and feedback are crucial in shaping our journey ahead. Engage: We shall be running specialised workshops: Tailored sessions on ‘Best Practice’, ‘Campaigning’, and ‘Using Local Systems’ will equip you with practical tools and insights to enhance your group’s effectiveness. These workshops are designed to help you make a more significant impact in your local community. Connect and Collaborate: The conference is an excellent opportunity for you to network with other leaders and organisers from across the country. Sharing ideas and challenges, and forming supportive connections, can invigorate your group’s activities and expand your impact. An Offer for You: We’re pleased to offer one free registration for each group, with additional attendees welcome at a discounted rate of £50. Finally, we kicked of our Movember funded Peer Coaching project last week, with the first two day workshop for new Peer Coaches and Trainers. You can see a photo above of the successful trainees, along with their amazing trainer Aidan. ![]() The Great North Run, in is Newcastle/Gateshead on Sunday 7th September this year. We have four places left – would you like one? It’s a half marathon and you must commit to raising a minimum of £500 sponsorship. We’ll provide the rest – a running vest, help with setting up a fundraising page, support with publicity and we’ll be there to cheer you on day. Tackle uses all the money raised like this to help establish new support groups, so you will be enabling many more people affected by prostate cancer to benefit from peer support. So, if you’re up for running 13.1 miles and raising £500, just email Andrew on [email protected] and he’ll welcome you to Team Tackle. |
